We always have FUN at I-35 Speedway! This past Saturday was no different, we had 82 competitors in the pits, we had a great night of racing, we had nearly perfect weather, we had a baby gender reveal on the racetrack, we had a friend from Las Vegas in the grandstands, we had friends we worked with years ago at another track in the grandstands, the Central Auto Racing Boosters Sparky was in attendance, smiles galore in the pits and in the grandstands, fun, fun, fun!

Let’s start with the 82 competitors in the pits – AWESOME, EXCITING, racing. Please review Jacob Blair’s review in the weekly track program or check out our facebook page, I-35 Speedway Winston, or website, www.i-35speedway.net. Jacob’s report describes all the exciting racing, all the great talent in competition, and how tight the racing is each week! It truly is a Smokin Hot Summer Series! Reminds me of the old days of racing, larger track on Friday, short track on Saturday, superb racing, superb challenge of different track sizes. These racers are not one-track wonders, they are fantastic competitors displaying their talent!

We could not complain about the weather, we can complain about the weather forecasters though. Forecasters apparently are having a hard time with the drought we have been experiencing. There was moisture in the air on Saturday morning which led to a high in the 70s during the day. Saw several wearing sweatshirts and blankets over their legs in the grandstands. For those of us on the move the temperature was perfect in our travels.

Congratulations to the Harris Family, there is a baby on the way and what we discovered is the pink smoke bombs which went off in the car indicates it will be a girl! What a fun way to reveal the baby gender, apparently Daniel Harris knew, had to recruit help from Paige Shaw obtaining the smoke bombs, and Mom Kayla was not aware of the baby reveal. Thank you for sharing this fun way of revealing the baby’s gender with your racing family at I-35 Speedway. Now does that mean we get to provide preferred baby names?

Just as we got to intermission and the Kaster Family celebration, I see an old friend from Las Vegas, Dan Cunningham. Dan grew up in Independence, in the early 1990s we built a race car for him to race during the asphalt days. A couple of seasons racing, and he headed out to Las Vegas in the mid-90s and we lost touch with each other. Seeing him walking through the crowd was a total surprise. He did state he follows my Racingkc blog.

Sparky, the Central Auto Racing Boosters Kid’s Club Mascot was at the track having fun with the children. C.A.R.B. Night will be on August 25, 2018 and the organization will have their pinewood derby track at I-35 Speedway for their Kid’s Club Members to race. Check out their Facebook page for more information.

This week we did a check of the reviews and recommendations for the I-35 Speedway Winston Facebook page. Thank you Lisa Burlington (pictures), Rick Bannon (tailgating), Jennifer Hajek (with friends), Kim Cochran (late but made it, great racing), Sin Pinkert (first visit), and Kim Cochran (beautiful night) for your comments and recommendations. Thank you everyone for supporting I-35 Speedway, see you at the races this weekend for McCarthy’s Kid Night, we will have Free School Supplies for the children.
