In the I-35 Speedway spotlight today we find a Legend in the racing world as we get to know “The Fireman” Jon Boller Jr.. Jon is from St Joseph, MO where he has worked for the St Joseph Fire Department 24 years. Jon drives ‪#‎20x‬‬ USRA Stock Car, a number he chose in 2003 because of Tony Stewart and has worn it on his race car ever since. Married to Beth, Jon has five kids; Jon III, Amber, Amanda, Conner and Carson Masoner. Jon got interested in racing when his father, Jon Sr., would take him to Savannah as a kid, he always knew at that young age he would someday drive a race car. Jon started his racing career in 1984 and raced through 1991, taking a little break from racing, he then returned in 2003 until the present.

Jon has raced and won on tracks all over the midwest such as I-35 Speedway, Savannah Speedway, I-70 Speedway, US 36 Raceway, Atchison County Raceway, Thunderhill Speedway, Butler Speedway, Boone Speedway, Bethany Fairgrounds, Central Missouri Speedway, Valley Speedway, Adrian Speedway, and Heartland Park Topeka. When it comes to career highlights, let’s just say they are many, so let’s get started. Fifteen Championships; nine Track Championships, One Missouri State Championship, and five Northwest Point Championships. Jon also is one of the few that can say they had a perfect season at a race track going undefeated at US 36 Raceway winning every heat race and every feature in Factory Stock. Jon also claimed an IMCA Point Championship in 2012 and has a total of 112 victories to his credit and counting. Jon shows no signs of slowing down as he is still competitive and a threat to win each and every time he is behind the wheel of his USRA Stock Car.

Jon’s worst memory in racing is all four times he has rolled his race car. With Jon, racing is more than winning, it is family as he has three sons that compete weekly, Jon Boller III who drives the 20X E-Modified, Conner Masoner‪#‎47X‬‬ and Carson Masoner ‪#‎13X‬‬ that competes in the Hobby Stock Division and carries on the winning tradition. Jon also owns cars driven by Chris Wright, Jeremiah Asher, and sponsors many other race cars on the track including current National USRA Stock Car Point Leader Thomas Roberts ‪#‎65X‬‬. Sponsors on all of Jon’s race cars are Fire House Designs, Boller Motorsports, Cameron Engines, Lake Road Warehouse, Shocker Chassis, Asher Race Cars, Six-Nine Designs, Renegade Racing Fuels and W-W Motorsports. Jon Boller Jr. is a mainstay in the racing community and helps many young drivers get a start in racing and loves the sport with heart and soul, always willing to stop and visit, taking time to help those that ask. Not many can claim the success that he has had over the years, but ask him and he’ll smile and say, “I’m just a Rookie this year” and is very modest about all he has accomplished.

I think the only reason he agreed to do this interview was to get me off his back, as I can be kind of persistent. Not only is Jon a Fireman protecting property and saving lives on a regular basis, something you may not know is that he drove an Ambulance from 1998 to 2007. (Bet those people that were in that ambulance will never forget the ride!!!!) Jon would like to thank his Dad, Mom, Wife, and all his Sponsors for their support as he lives his racing dreams. When asked what advice he would give someone just starting in the sport of racing Jon said and I quote, “Have a job that pays alot”! I could talk all night about the great job Jon does on and off the track but space is limited, all I can say is that he is a class act and good for the sport of racing. Let’s all look for the #20 of Jon Boller Jr. as he charges to McCarthy Auto Group Victory Circle at I-35 Speedway looking for win #113 of his illustrious career. You can see Jon race each Saturday Night at I-35 Speedway “Dirt Trackin at its Best”!
