From Wikipedia: Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the men and women who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. The holiday, which is celebrated every year on the last Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service.

On this day, Claudia and Jim Penney will visit several passed racers today and honor their graves with C.A.R.B. memorabilia. They have been doing this for years, thank you Jim and Claudia.

On this day we honor those who have laid down their lives for us, those who have not even known us, those who were family members, those who love our country, those who know that freedom is not free. Let’s remember them and let’s remember the one who gave his life for all of us so we may have everlasting light and forgiveness of our sins – Jesus our savior and lord. In his words from the book of John – 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

If we truly love Jesus we learn to forgive, we learn to work together, we learn to not judge people, we learn to not sin, not lie, not steal, not gossip, not be negative, not to complain, not to whine, but instead to be positive to work towards a goal to promote everyone’s strength. Selfishness disappears, jealousy disappears, crap stirring disappears, and learning to work with each other becomes a joy.

Memorial day remembering those who died for us, please remember the man who came to earth and died for all of us for eternity!
